Gwendolyn Grace Anne Palacios, lovingly known as Gwen, passed away on May 30, 2026, after two weeks of intensive care that began with a routine pediatrician appointment on May 15, 2026.
Doctors found a kidney tumor, and Gwen later received specialized care at Lurie Children’s Hospital after serious complications, including a brain bleed that required emergency neurosurgery.
Gwen marked a first birthday during hospitalization, surrounded by care teams and hope as family members stayed close throughout a deeply difficult time.
Natalie Ledezma created a memorial fundraiser on June 9, 2026, to support funeral costs, medical bills, lost income, and living expenses for parents Samantha and Hector Jr.
The fundraiser reported $1,390 raised toward a $16K goal through 15 donations.
